General Massage

General massage techniques may incorporate several types of massage therapy. Our experienced massage therapists will individualize your massage to include techniques to effectively address your specific needs.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage uses long, flowing strokes, kneading and circular movements. It is the most commonly requested massage technique and has been shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness and improving function in patients with conditions that cause muscle stiffness due to stress, chronic illness or injury. Swedish massage promotes relaxation, improves circulation and provides relief of muscle tension

Deep Tissue Massage

Systematic and site specific massage which lengthens and strengthens tissue which breaks the cycle of muscle spasm and pain. Target tissues may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints or other connective tissue, as well as organs. Deep tissue massage is effective in treating muscle soreness due to over exercise, stress or injury.

Sports Massage

Sports massage therapy is geared toward athletes of every kind, from world-class professionals to weekend joggers, and focuses on areas of the body that are overused and stressed from repetitive and often aggressive movements. One of the key benefits of Sports massage therapy compared to other modalities is its ability to target muscle-tendon junctions.

Oncology Massage

Oncology and massage for people living with chronic illness is administered by therapists who have been specifically trained to provide massage for conditions such as fibromyalgia and cancer. A customized plan which usually works in unison with a physician, helps to improve the immune system and decreases muscle soreness. This special service provides great comfort for the patient working through a chronic or serious illness.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release refers to the manual massage technique for stretching the fascia and releasing bonds between fascia and muscles with the goal of eliminating pain and increasing range of motion. Myofascial release usually involves applying shear compression or tension in various directions.

Pre & Post Natal Massage

This massage requires a doctor’s prescription. The technique shares many of the same goals of Swedish massage. It is tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies. The therapists are certified and have specific training in caring for the mother-in-waiting and also focusing on the mother’s healing from childbirth.

Massage Cupping

A wonderful ancient tool has found its place in the contemporary world of health care. Massage cupping is a modern form of vacuum therapy. By creating a negative vacuum pressure, massage cupping is used to soften tight muscles and tone attachments, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue, bring hydration and blood flow to body tissues, move deep inflammation to the skin surface for release, and drain excess fluids and toxins by opening lymphatic pathways.

Youth Sports Massage Ages 8-17

Sports massage for kids/teens can be the most effective form of injury rehabilitation therapy and proven to be helpful towards preventing injuries, shortening recovery time between games, increasing endurance and overall performance. At MMG we take great care in providing your child with therapeutic massage to relieve muscle tension, improve muscle flexibility and range of motion, improve circulation and get them back in the game.

Youth Massage

Ages 8-17

Just like adults, children experience stress on a daily basis. Stress from school, HS admissions testing, SAT testing to name a few. Let Step by Step Massage help relieve their stress and perform better with our Youth Massage service. Massage reduces stress hormone levels which not only can reduce anxiety but improve immune function. We use therapeutic massage techniques to help relieve tension, relax the body and create a state of well being.

Geriatric Massage

Geriatric massage is a form of massage designed to meet the specific needs of the elderly. It involves gentle hands-on therapy to improve circulation, relieve pain and increase range of motion. It can also help to relieve anxiety and depression and provide comfort through touch to the elderly population.

Orthopedic & Neuromuscular Therapy

NMT is a series of treatment protocols that are different than the general massage. This type of therapy has specific goals in place from the beginning to the end of the treatment. Treatments include postural assessment, before and after photos, future planning and after care instruction. Your first consultation will be the basis for forming a treatment plan with Neuromuscular Therapy.
